General fun

FOLLOWING A GAP OF SEVERAL WEEKS, FRIDAY NIGHT IS AGAIN MUSIC NIGHT!

This first song is in honour of our American cousins, who today celebrate the anniversary of the day they applied to the mother country for independence:

This next one goes out to the branch of LibLabCon that currently rules this country:

This is for anyone deluded enough to think that switching to another branch of LibLabCon will actually make things any better:

And finally this one is for myself, for all kinds of reasons:

I actually heard that one being sung at a folk group in Stockport last Saturday, and thought it would make a good anthem for the Libertarian Party.  Must remember to suggest it next time I'm on the forum.

Have a good weekend.

SCUM DANCING

Here's a novel approach to prison reform.  In the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center, in the Philippines, they try to give the convicts a sense of purpose by encouraging them to take part in dance routines!  I've no idea if it has the desired effect, but it probably beats sitting around in their cells all day, doing drugs and knifing each other.

First off, here's a yard full of convicts dancing to Queen's "Radio Ga Ga":

Next, see what they do with Michael Jackson's "Thriller":

And for something a bit more laid back, have a dose of "Sadeness" by Enigma.  Despite being an athiest, I really like this track - Gregorian chants really help me to mellow out:

These guys aren't bad, are they?  Let me rephrase that, obviously most of them will be pretty immoral, otherwise they wouldn't be in clink, but they're not bad at dancing (better than me anyway, I'm a lover not a dancer as the saying almost goes).  And apparently there are more dance routines on the way.  Coming soon:

FRIDAY NIGHT IS MUSIC NIGHT

I've actually been doing an honest day's work today, so I thought I'd relax and keep tonight's selection fairly mellow.

First off, although I'm not normally a fan of Britney Spears, I quite like this video - "Gimme More":

Now for one of my favourite bands - Front 242, the indisputable kings of electronic music.  I've always liked this song, and the slightly quirky video - "Tragedy (For You)":

And finally, here's Madonna's classic video "Justify my Love":

FRIDAY NIGHT IS MUSIC NIGHT

I think I'll start off with a blast from the past.  Remember Jilted John?  Here's the Kamel 10p remix, which was put together in response to Gordon Brown's 2007 budget.  Yes, I know it's now 2008, and Cyclops has been promoted (for now) - I still like it:

Here's something more recent from across the pond - the esteemed Ted Nugent has a message for all gun-grabbers, gang-bangers, tree-huggers, statist killjoys and negative vibe merchants generally:

Still across the water, I found this on YouTube - "Freedom Bomb" by Eddie James.  It's a fundraising video put together in support of the famous American libertarian Ron Paul, who was campaigning for the Republican presidential nomination a few months ago:

And finally, Twisted Sister say "We're not gonna take it" - and neither will Codename V:

If you think there's some kind of overarching theme or subtext to tonight's selection, that's probably just your imagination.

FRIDAY NIGHT IS MUSIC NIGHT

I'm using the word "music" a bit loosely tonight.

Let's start with a dose of Monty Python - and their tribute to the Lord Protector:

Followed by a remix of the incredibly historically-accurate film "Cromwell":

And finally, if neither of the above appeals to you, why not mellow out to the sound of The Levellers, doing a cover version of The Clash's "English Civil War":

Have a good weekend everyone.

I HAVE A RARE PERSONALITY!

Very rare, in fact.  And it's not just my psychiatrist who says so:

Your Personality is Very Rare (INFP)
Your personality type is dreamy, romantic, elegant, and expressive.

Only about 5% of all people have your personality, including 6% of all women and 4% of all men
You are Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Perceiving.

Hat tip to Resistance is Useless for this one.

FRIDAY NIGHT IS MUSIC NIGHT

I seem to be in a bit of a Magnum mood at the moment.  I hope you are too.

Let's start with "On a Storyteller's Night":

Second, the classic "Vigilante":

Finally, I thought I'd finish this evening's entertainment with "Days of No Trust":

What a great band.  I missed a chance to see them at the Manchester Academy last year (no bread).  Must take care not to miss another chance.
